Roo Abrook is a multi-media artist producing collages, reworked found objects alongside pasteups and murals, depicting portraits of women and children. Original graphite and painted portraits often inspired by collected Edwardian photographic postcards and Antique paintings are used as a starting point, pattern, decoration and adornment are introduced into works looking at beautification in its many forms. Disregarded found Antique and Vintage papers are incorporated, investigating timelines and bringing life to the old and unwanted. Within her work she investigates and poses self-reflecting questions about the subject matter of beauty, youth, and time. The composition of her modern portraits portray an overall feeling of natural strength and beauty mixed with the fragility of the brief and every changing life that all women share. Works have sold to collectors through galleries and Art Fairs in London, Hong Kong and Singapore. Roo also produces murals translating her collages combining paste-ups, stencils, painting with spays paints.
