This year, Upfest is proudly sponsoring the 10th Bristol Art for Africa auction, in aid of Temwa. Taking place at the Attic Bar on May 11th, the auction will feature work by renowned artists such as DinDin, FLX and SPQR.
There will be over 70 pieces of artwork going under the hammer, from classical oil paintings to stencilled skate decks, alongside large contemporary canvases and screen prints, with estimated values ranging from £50 to £1200.
Art for Africa is the charities’ biggest fundraiser, along with its sister auction in London, showcasing talent from a vast array of local urban and street artists. This year’s auction is set to be bigger and better as it marks the tenth anniversary of the first ever Art for Africa, held at the Tobacco Factory in 2003.
Over the last ten years, Temwa has grown and developed alongside the urban art scene, artists have become established on a world wide scale, and Temwa’s project have expanded to help thousands of people to dramatically change their lives.
To celebrate this anniversary in style there will be live painting from some of the urban art scene’s finest talents including; Mr. Jago, China Mike, EPOK, Mau Mau and Greg Minto, with many more to be confirmed.
All of the money raised goes directly to Temwa, whose work helps build a sustainable future for the people of Malawi through community-based projects in health education, sustainable agriculture & forestry, schools support and skills training.
