Upfest II - new book showcases festival art

The new Upfest book, Upfest II will be published this week celebrating the festival's eight years and creating a visual history of the event.

Launch events will be held in London on Thursday 1 December at Relentless Number Five on Denmark Street from 7pm and in Bristol on Friday 2 December at the Upfest Shop & Gallery from 6.30pm. The book will also be available to buy online from Saturday 3 December.

The book will feature over 200 images showcasing the work of more than 150 artists from around the globe. Each image has been selected through a photography competition to highlight the incredible art work that has been live painted at the festival over the years.

To mark the launch, 100 unique artworks are being created by new and well known street artists to adorn the fronts of the book presses to present the first 100 copies. The works will be created by artists who have previously attended the festival including Cheba, Cheo, Copyright, Dan Kitchener, Dr Love, Fanakapan, Gemma Compton, Guy Denning, Jim Vision, Jody, Lee Ellis, Loch Ness, Lokey, My Dog Sighs, Nomad Clan, Oli T, Otto Schade, Pahnl, Rob Wass, Sophie Long, Snik, Snub23, SPZero, Turroe Yoyder and Zase to name but a few.

The exclusive one-off versions will be available in Bristol and London with 50 copies available at the book launch at Relentless Number Five, Soho on Thursday 1 December and 50 copies available from the Upfest gallery and shop on North Street, Bedminster on Friday 2 December.

The book has been designed by Jody, a Bristol-based designer and artist who started painting in 1987 at the now infamous Barton Hill Youth Club.

Upfest II will be available for £19.95, with the limited edition book press versions available for £60.00.
